Assistant Project Manager

The Assistant Project Manager aids and provides support for the Project Manager on any given task throughout the duration of a project.  This position requires attention to detail and the ability to effectively follow instructions, take initiative and serve in a support role for the Project Manager.  The Project Manager has responsibility to ensure timely and on-budget completion of all initiatives and tasks required to achieve ownership's goals and objectives for the project.  The Assistant Project Manager should contribute to this effort by assisting in the completion of the responsibilities and associated tasks required of the Project Manager.

Duties, ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, including but not limited to:

Review Project Manager responsibilities and assist the Project Manager in all related project responsibilities including RFI creation/distribution, drawing management/updating, meeting minute recording/distribution

Attend and assist with the due diligence meeting between the Project Estimator and Project Manager to fully understand all aspects of project and any specific and/or unique information pertaining to project.

Have an understanding of the project business plan.

Assist with the organization and scheduling of the project pre-construction meeting to include representatives from all trade partners and appropriate vendors.

Create submittal log for presentation to the Project Manager and use to request appropriate submittals from all trade partners/vendors

Check submittals thoroughly against contract documents to ensure strict compliance. If any item is in question, seek the direction from the Project Manager.

Manage the submittal process correctly and efficiently by ensuring submittals are received, reviewed, approved, and returned while monitoring fabrication time prior to materials required at the project site.

Keep organized submittal files of all pertinent shop drawings and other submittals at the office and electronically.

Assist with the procurement of signed subcontracts, proposal authorizations, or purchase orders as directed by the Project Manager.  

Assist with maintaining updated contract drawings and specifications in an organized manner.

Assist with distribution of all project information to trade partners/vendors (including RFI responses and site instructions).  Incorporate into record contract drawings and specifications.

Assist with the procurement, organization and submittal of all required closeout documents in a timely manner.

Coordinate with project superintendent for field needs and coordinate daily with the project manager to meet all project requirements

Optimal EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years Construction Related experience and/or a bachelor’s degree in Building Science or Civil Engineering.  Salary is dependent upon experience level.
