Accounting Clerk II

The Accounting Clerk II is a full-time salaried team member in the Finance & Administration Department who primarily provides accounting support and performs accounting and clerical functions to support the monthly functions of the Finance & Administration Department.  In the current organizational structure, the Accounting Clerk II reports to the Controller and works alongside other Financial Operations team members.  The Accounting Clerk II position requires a dependable and self-motivating person who is able to multi-task in processing data, recording transactions, reconciling information, preparing reports, and being responsible for complete areas of timely and accurate accounting workflow that are essential for monthly financial reporting.  A consistent strong desire to continually build new, and improve existing, processing and reporting functions of an expanding company is expected.  Required skills include the ability to learn quickly, attention to detail, excellent time management, ability to meet deadlines, efficiency, and the desire and potential to grow with the company.  The position requires either experience in, or openness and ability to train and use, leading-edge technology, software, processes, and procedures that produce accurate, efficient results.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, including but not limited to

General Accounting Support

o Log and maintain employee, vendor, and subcontractor records as they relate to payroll, insurance, and accounting

o Respond to inquiries related to financial data

o Communicate clearly and accurately, both internally and externally, to enforce sound process in performing duties of the role

Banking and Cash Accounts

o Provide support related to cash reconciliation and reporting handled by other department members

Accounts Payable

o Receive and properly record, file, and route payables for approval

o Assist in the payment distribution process handled by other department members

o Prepare checks for signature and issue/distribute checks

Accounts Receivable

o Assist in the accounts receivable process handled by other department members

o Make deposits and post cash receipts

Credit Accounts

o Receive, organize, and file credit account receipts/vouchers

o Route transactions for approval

o Reconcile credit account statements

Expense Management

o Receive, log, and process expense reports and check requests

Payroll

o Receive, log, and process timesheets and other payroll data

o Complete and own the payroll process

o Prepare payroll-related reports

o Prepare payroll tax payments

Project Accounting Support

o Workflow involvement with project setup, project log, project accounting data entry, check requests, customer/vendor tax and insurance management, and material invoice transmittals.

Financial Budgeting and Reporting

o Complete workflow, prepare reports, and provide other support related to budget management and the internal monthly financial statement process

Human Resources

o Assist with tasks related to benefits management

Insurance and Bonding

o Complete workflow, prepare reports, and provide other support related to insurance and bonding

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma.  College degree in accounting preferred but not required

• 2-3 years employed experience with an organization in an accounting or finance capacity

• General experience and understanding of construction accounting and job cost is preferred

COMPUTER SKILLS

• Possess strong computer knowledge and typing skills. Proficiency with all Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, but including Word, Access, and PowerPoint
